Re: zumo XT First (and continuing) impressions

But they were Via Points when I put them into the route, before the system split the route into 9 parts. And the start and end behave like Via Points - except as you correctly state, you cannot change them. I assume that is because the characteristics of a shaping point wouldn't suit. They need to a...

Re: zumo XT First (and continuing) impressions

I cannot duplicate the fault that Tom Schmitz reported. But I am trying this on the 595, not an XT and the two don't necessarily behave the same in this respect. I emptied my internal memory of transferred routes before doing this (from Windows Explorer on my PC, you cant get rid of them from the Zu...

Re: zumo XT First (and continuing) impressions

For @jfheath In fact, that's exactly what I did. My ride is divided into 7 road books for 7 days of travel. The example I submitted to you was to see the limits of Zumo XT. And in particular this famous 29 point limit which triggers a division of the initial road book. Moreover, it seems to me to h...

Re: zumo XT First (and continuing) impressions

After loading the 244 point route into Basecamp, I realised that it is a multi-day trip. Why not break it into a new trip for each day. Less points to have in memory at any one time. Easier to load up each morning - the start is up at the top of the route. When doing this in Basecamp, it is easier t...

Re: zumo XT First (and continuing) impressions

Mapsource doesn't make the same distinction between Via Points and Shaping Points that Basecamp and the Trip Planner app makes. The route for Trip Planner really needs to be transferred from Basecamp, otherwise you will have issues, particularly for longer routes. Having too many Via Points in a rou...

Re: zumo XT First (and continuing) impressions

You need to have at least one waypoint in Saved just to get to the menu that allows you to select the waypoints to import. It seems like a decent protocol. I'd rather have it this way than automatically import every waypoint that is stored on the SD card, considering that I have the potential to st...

Re: Zumo XT section

Thanks for that @V-Tom . I have only just got round to looking at the Packtalk. It looks good. I'm going to give that some serious scrutiny - perfectly happy with my Autocom, but next time it starts costing me money I will have an alternative way to go.

Re: Zumo XT section

Thanks for that @V-Tom. I've had a conversation with the very helpful guys at Chain-Speed here in the UK. They inform me that their Bluetooth Module BTM-03 provides the BT capability at the Autocom end to enable me to do exactly what I do now with that bunch of wires from the Zumo 590. Now normally,...

Re: zumo XT First (and continuing) impressions

I've been getting the EULA a lot recently. My fault as I have been switching the OS software back and forth between it being a 590 and a 595. This happens whether or not I have satellite reception. But it has been too horrible to contemplate going for a ride - until the other day. When I came back, ...
