Refused to power off

Post by danham »

My XT pulled an odd one today. I updated a time zone map (I was sick of it nagging me to do it) and when I held the power button to fully shut off, it displayed the screen with the blue Cancel and red Off buttons, but pressing the Off button had no effect. I tried lots of things -- press and hold the power button for ever, press Cancel and try again, but every time I ended up at the red and blue buttons screen and the red one would not respond to a press. The only thing that finally worked was connecting to my computer, letting it go into transfer mode and then doing the usual shutdown.

Weird.

That was a Good work around though.

Something always worth trying is the very long power button press. I sometimes need to do it when the Zumos do not turn on, But it has worked when turning off. Its normally about 30 seconds - or until something happens - or until your finger gets cramp. I don't think I have seen it documented anywhere so if anyone can provide better info, that would be helpful.

I've never come across your situation though. Clean the screen, sometimes a bit of grease somewhere on the screen can cause issues.
Have owned Zumo 550, 660 == Now have Zumo XT2, XT, 595, 590, Headache
Use Basecamp (mainly), MyRouteApp (sometimes), Competent with Tread for XT2, Can use Explore for XT - but it offers nothing that I want !
