I have read that a computer's USB port may not be able to supply sufficient current to keep a turned on XT from discharging the internal battery over a long period.
I am contemplating having a powered mount on my desktop next to the PC to supply the XT with power.
If the XT is connected as well to the PC via USB do any issues arise?
Thanks.

Re: Simultaneous USB and Mount Power?
Why do you want to do this?
Why not plug it into the USB and see if it discharges?

Just try it!
Modern pc's do have usb ports, which deliver more than the 'old' 0,5 amps so the chances, that it will work are good! Maybe you have to use an newer usb-c port and an adapter to the old mini-usb port on the Zumo XT....
Also it may help if you put the Zumo XT in 'GPS Simulation mode' in the settings so that it uses less power and than activate the standby-mode (short press on the on/off-button) - the screen should go black and a message on the screen will be displayed for a short time that your Zumo XT is charging.

Re: Simultaneous USB and Mount Power?
The USB port on my tablet/mobile phone charger offers 2.4A. That ought to be enough.

Re: Simultaneous USB and Mount Power?
I often have the USB lead plugged in when I am working at my desk. The XT1 or XT2 is mounted in an XT1 cradle - which provides the power from a Mains transformer. The USB cable is plugged in so that I am not constantly unplugging it from the XT1 or XT2 body - thus saving wear and tear on a particularly fragile component.
The XT1 and XT2 will not charge adequately when the Zumo screen is on. It will slowly lose power. The USB cable will charge it OK when the unit is turned off with a short press of the button (standby), but it cannot supply enough power to keep it running - unlike say the 590 or 595 Zumos.
The USB connection on the Zumos work in a similar way to those on phones - where the unti can be charging and taking power from the battery at the same time. My XT2 tends to get quite warm at the desk and the screen becomes sluggish in response to finger presses. But I do tend to have it on for a long time during the day - I forget to turn it off - which is a pain becasue when I make a phone call, I cannot hear anything 'cos the Zumo has taken control of the phone !!

Use Basecamp (mainly), MyRouteApp (sometimes), Competent with Tread for XT2, Can use Explore for XT - but it offers nothing that I want !
