Zumo 660 - Lost PIN

Post by Rens »

Hi guys, just saying hello.
I joined honestly out of desperation .... I have a Zumo 660 that came with the BMW GS bike.
It decided to chuck a mickey with the PIN code that I was given to me by the previous owner.
The Garmin Australasia people can't help me.
So, I'm hoping one of you learned folks would be able and kind enough to help me solve this conundrum.

regards

Welcome to the forums @Rens .

"Chuck a Mickey" ? I've not heard that phrase before, had to look it up. The same as Uk "Throw a wobbler".

I can't help with the pin code. Maybe contact Garmin, or go back to the original owner ? I was going to suggest a system reset, but you probably cant do that until you've entered the pin.
Have owned Zumo 550, 660 == Now have Zumo XT2, XT, 595, 590, Headache
Use Basecamp (mainly), MyRouteApp (sometimes), Competent with Tread for XT2, Can use Explore for XT - but it offers nothing that I want !

Thanks for your reply. I tried your suggestions and no go.

Chucking a mickey is an Aussie term. Another one is having a hissy fit.
It basically means "The computer says no!" But you probably already worked that out.

Cheers

I'll move this post into the Zumo 660 area, see if anyone can help.

Re: Lost PIN - New member query

Hi all,
to be clear .... the Zumo 660 will no longer accept the PIN code. That is the issue.
Going to the 'security location' is not feasible ... it is reportedly 2500km away.
I tried the old '1234' code.
I've tried turning on and off several times.

If any of you have any suggestions how to get around this, then that would be very much appreciated.

Can you just explain what you mean? Can you not even get to that page, or if you can does it not allow an input, or is it simply rejecting the pin as 'wrong'?

It's rejecting the PIN as wrong.
The message "Incorrect PIN. Return to the security location" then comes up.
According to the manual, finding yourself in that location would automatically provide access on the Zumo. But that's too far away for me.

First thought then is to contact the seller and confirm the PIN is correct

Yep. They definitely gave me the correct PIN.
I actually used that PIN code a few months ago myself, after I got the bike and successfully got in, just to have a go and confirm that the ZUMO worked. Which it did. No worries at the time ... but now it rejects the PIN. Strange indeed!
