Re: Dusted off the 660.

Thanks Bear but I couldn't really find anything suitable. Turns out the map was an earlier version than the one on the 660 and so I've removed it from my PC. So it looks like my only option is using Basecamp with the device attached. No hardship and at least I can still use the 660 and produce route...

Re: Dusted off the 660.

Installed the map Europe NT 2012 2012.10 from my original DVD onto my PC.

Map has been picked up by both Mapsource and Basecamp but I can't unlock it as the option given to do this on online and this basically goes nowhere. I have the Product Key and Unlock Code.

Re: Dusted off the 660.

I'm pretty certain that it is. Garmin I suppose thought that they had to continue to fulfil their obligations for those with lifetime maps but for those without they could just pull the plug. Mine's just a 660. I was probably given the option for lifetime maps when I bought it but didn't subscribe t...

Re: Dusted off the 660.

Hi chaps, only just got back from a day out. Les, no I don't get Map Details come up. Probably because I don't have lifetime maps and I can no longer buy updates. Sussamb, I have the original map disk which came with the sat nav and I have the unlock code. Plan was to see if I can install this on th...

Re: Dusted off the 660.

Thanks. Looked at installing a map via Garmin Express and Mapsource, but they don't give me the option of installing any maps. Was hoping I could pull it off the 660 via Transfer in BC as it includes maps in the choices, unless that means routes, and was surprised to see no maps on the device. Looks...

Re: Dusted off the 660.

Not quite out of the woods yet. Just thought I'd start looking at producing a route and in neither Basecamp or Mapsource do I have my 2012 map showing. When I zoom in on both I only have main roads. If I connect the 660 to the PC I get all the minor roads as well in Basecamp but not Mapsource. Have ...

Re: Dusted off the 660.

I have Europe on the 660 but that is a 2012 map! Sounds as though the newer updates have grown in size considerably? No immediate plans for riding outside the UK anymore which was one of the reasons for selling the Tiger 1050 with its full luggage. Used to do a fair amount of European trips. Not fus...

Re: Dusted off the 660.

Thanks Les. Since posting I've been reading other threads on removing files (some posts by John) and have gleaned that files not needed from folders Text, Voice, Vehicle and Help can be deleted along with temp.gpx and Current.gpx I shall make a backup before deleting though! May have to resort to a ...

Re: Dusted off the 660.

Thanks John and Les. When installing Basecamp (good that I did first) the map was loaded into the default location and was picked up by Mapsource as it shows the old tracks/routes that I transferred in from the 660. Further question. Space is getting a bit tight on the 660 (don't want to use a Micro...
