Re: Questions about the XT, unpaved, routing, and map

Peobody I believe the brown color is indicating an unpaved road.

I live in the United States (Georgia), but have been using a customized UK map theme on My Zumo XT to display the map. I edited my map theme file to widen the brown lines that are displayed for unpaved roads.

I have also experienced ...

Re: Zumo XT Fails to Calculate & Display Route Segment Info

Since jfheath raised the topic of editing the themes available on the Zumo XT, I thought worth sharing this for those folks who dabble with this.

A useful free editor for Garmin Theme files can be downloaded from here:

This editor provides a ...

Re: Long Routes

As a point of clarity, can a route handle 29 via points or 30 via points? The Garmin support page (see https://support.garmin.com/en-US/?faq=7S1IiE1e7H4Iw1svGjJlb6 ) indicates 30 waypoints (which I understand means your start point, end point, along waypoints and/or via points) and I have read ...

Re: Long Routes

Modern Garmins can only handle up to 29 via points in a route, more than that and you'll get the behaviour you describe.

Re: Definition Changes - Trip vs Route ??

First, I have to agree with danham . We need to not overthink Garmin's use of terminology.

Garmin has never been consistent with their terminology. I suspect their use of terms has evolved as they modified (or added, or decided not to add) functions to their devices.

If you look at the menu bar ...

Re: Garmin Drive to Garmin XT issues

Normally I do my planning in Basecamp. I save (export) my trip data to a GPX file, after which I manually copy the GPX file to the micro-SD card in my Zumo XT.

Here is a technique I have recently been experimenting with for transferring routes and tracks to my Zumo XT.

First, I plan my trip in ...

Re: ZUMO XT questions from newbie

3) Any advise for a sport tourer with a Zumo XT, traveling across the country in a month or so? BTW I have a Packtalk slim connected as well.

If you have not used a Zumo XT much, read and study the information in the thread titled "Zumo XT and Basecamp - Everything You Need to Know" pinned at ...

Re: Does anybody know the margin for 'hitting' a Via point?

Hello, new member to this board.

I own both a BMW Navigator VI device (made by Garmin for BMW) and a Garmin Zumo XT. I recall seeing settings on the Navigator 6 that may shed some light on the margin for "hitting" a Via Point. The Navigator 6 settings appear to be applicable to Waypoints, not Via ...
