Re: Trying to install purchased map

I've searched many times, but I have never been able to find a Zumo "Travel Edition" here in the U.S. If it were not mentioned repeatedly in this forum, I would doubt such a thing exists. It is very doubtful I would ever need any more than the default North American map, but if I did, I would just ...

Re: Bricked Zūmo 590 after timezone update via Garmin Express — looking for help

If the 590 is not booting past the Garmin logo, there is no point in discussing configuration settings and storage modes.

My hope is for a battery too weak to complete the boot process. Starting it in a powered mount might work.

I fear that the battery may have been too weak during the update ...

Re: What maps are included

If you purchased North American maps for your previous Zumos on SD card, the card should still work in the XT2, but will be slightly out-of-date.

When you download the CNNT NA maps, they only work on those specific units, and cannot be transferred or updated without another purchase.

Re: Files exported with Explorer sign

I also am a bit bewildered by the preference for NO file association. I have many programs that can use a .gpx (or other file type), but surely there is one that is used most often. Why go through the extra steps to right-click, select an app, choose "Once" for every file, when a quick double-click ...

Re: Files exported with Explorer sign

AI says:
Steps to Disassociate a File Type (Windows 10/11)
Create a Dummy File: Right-click on your desktop, select New > Text Document. Rename it to dummy.exe (ensure you change the .txt extension to .exe).
Change File Association: Right-click a file of the type you want to disassociate, select ...

Re: Files exported with Explorer sign

The first 'Choose another app' shows a list of apps that Windows thinks might be suitable. During their installation, the file extension was registered as usable by the program.

There is a second 'Choose an app on your PC' at the bottom of that list which opens the File Manager ...

Re: Files exported with Explorer sign

I can understand not wanting Explore to be the default, but I would think setting a more desirable default would be acceptable; you can still use right-click Open with to use a different app.

The set a better default, right-click the .gpx file, select Open with , select Choose another app . A ...

Re: Joining tracks

Thats not whats happening - I must be joining tracks incorrectly - every track I add on to the chain of joined tracks has a straight line link back to its own start point

Is that start point also in the next joined track?

It will be interesting to see what is causing this behavior.

I can join ...
