How to install OSM Maps in XT2

Hello,

I'm trying to install a generic OSM map of Morocco, like the ones I installed on the XT (by placing the .img file in the "Map" folder or inside the "Garmin" folder). On the XT2 I have tried both ways and it does not seem that it is that easy to install OSM maps.

- It does not have the "Map" folder, and despite creating it and putting the maps inside it does not support them.
- I've tried this and putting them in the "Garmin" folder, and it doesn't work.
- The worst thing of all is that in Garmin Express I don't even have the option to buy the map of Morocco.

Could someone give me a hand? Have you installed any OSM map on the XT2? How?

I answer myself, I have solved it thanks to a colleague on the Facebook forum, installing the OSM maps through MapInstall, installing on the XT2 SD card.


From what can be deduced from the Garmin Express map schemes, the map of Africa that the XT2 has does not cover Morocco. But when you proceed with the installation of the Garmin Africa maps on the SD, complete Africa is installed. It is an error in the generic images that the Garmin Express shows.

Hi, Im still cant install openstreet maps on Zumo XT2 . PLease help ! Tried at sd card and internal memory...nothing works.. any suggestion?

Which map are you trying to install? Mainly though if placing a .img file on a sd card it must be in a folder named Garmin. On your device in a folder named Map.

Im tring to instal openstreet maps for mongolia, Kazaksthan etc... I had tried both ways you mentioned, but doenst work.
By the way they appear in base camp when I plug my gps to the computer...

Is the SD formatted with FAT32?
I would check that first.

I myself only need European maps and use those maps from ‘Freizeitkarte’ , like https://www.freizeitkarte-osm.de/garmin ... uropa.html
I down load the file end extract the zip, copy this *.img to the SD in the ‘Map’ folder.
This works for me.

May you get a small map for testing, e.g. https://download.freizeitkarte-osm.de/g ... pp.img.zip
and try it out.

When I then connect my XT2 to the PC, it looks like this.

It is strange when Basecamp recognises the XT2 but the XT2 itself does not.

What format are the maps in? They should be .img files, are they? Can you post a link to the site where you're getting them from?
