new PC

Post by patrickg450 »

hey there, I have made this mistake before but can seem to remember how I fixed it.

I had to reload my WIND 10 machine, I need to get my purchased maps into BC. When my 595 is hooked up via the USB cable I can see my maps, but when I unhook it I just have the basic maps.

I looked into GRAMIN express but there is no "purchased" tab to update my maps.

Add your device to Express and then look for Map Options not purchased maps. You should see an option to Install map to computer.

I'm not sure how this will work after a win reinstall though. You may find you have to reinstall the map to your device to enable the Install map to computer option.

I have added it in Express, there is no "tab" to add maps like I see when looking online.

Ok, maybe I misunderstood. Are the maps ones that came originally on your device or did you add them later? If so how and what maps were they? The instructions you posted above refers to handhelds.

If they came with the device from new they won't appear in purchased maps.

What version of Express are you running? If an old version the first thing to do is update it.

One potential alternative as you are working with a 595 and not an XT, you might look into the GMTK tools package.
Yes, I know it is 'out of date' and no longer updated, however I'd think it should still work on the older units.

I am running Basecamp version 7.4.1.0 on a Win 7 PC.

I open Garmin Express and click on my GPS, Zumo 590 and I get:

Then I click on "View Details" and get:

Then I click on "Installation Options" and get the options to pick where to store the maps.

Well that's your issue as that is well out of date. Update Express and you should see Map Options.

GMTK only helps with maps installed on your PC. It can't install maps.
