Thinking of Buying an XT2 ? Read on....

I have just acquired an XT2. If like me you have been wanting to find answers to questions, and have been unable to find a reasonable response - you are not alone. Except that now I have the means to answer my own questions. First impressions are mostly positive. As you can imagine, I am putting it ...

Re: How do I know what to Import?

My process is to select the route I want to transfer to the SD card, go to File > Export > Export selection, and save that file to my PC hard drive (the default filename will be the route name). I then copy that file to the SD card. An advantage to this is that when you look at the \GPX folder on t...

Re: Being forced to go back to a waypoint

I have just created a Proimity boundary around a location and a I ran a point to point route in siumulation. I get a single ping at the exat point where it crossed the (invisible) line. But BC draws the circle and I had it zoomed in and was comparing the map on the screen with the map on the XT2. So...

XT2 - Query - How to Build a Route with Waypoints

Help Please: Up until now, all Zumos have had a facility to build a route using points located by the Zumo itself. You use what was then called the Trip Planner app. Create a route by finding each point in turn - eg by searching; by using a map; etc. By far the easiest method was to use Waypoints th...

Re: Being forced to go back to a waypoint

A method I've used in the past is to put a Proximity Warning on a saved (alerting) Waypoint. That means i can place the waypoint before, on or after the actual stop and be alerted before I actually reach it - but I see a lot of merit in jfheath's thinking and may adopt that in future. That with a p...

Re: Opening a route takes a very long time

Basecamp definitely still works with the XT2. It is 'not compatible' because the XT2 has some features that Basecamp cannot possibly know about - so it cannot provide the information that the XT2 can use. Two examples of this are Where the routes tracks and waypoints are going to to be organised. Th...

Re: Waypoints created in Garmin Explore

I am confused. (I've got the image orientation sorted out and the sequence now matches your text) As I understand : You cannot add waypoints to a route in Explore. You can add them to the map, but they do not affect the route in any way. Waypoints do get sent to the XT - but again, they do not affec...

Re: How do I know what to Import?

Apologies - I was getting dizzy looking at the upside down images, so I turned them round (moderator privilege). I've seen on here that when transferring routes from Basecamp to the XT2 it gives them random names. I'm beginning to realise how frustrating this is. I have some routes and tracks on my ...

Re: Planned distance not making sense

And close down Basecamp while using Express. That used to cause issues - although mine didn't today.

Re: Being forced to go back to a waypoint

I will sometimes use that as an alert - it is a good technique, but I rarely mention it, so it is good to make that suggestion as well. Usually I put it after the point on the road that I will travel whether I visit the stopping place or not. If necessary I mark the cafe with a shaping point. If I d...
