Basecamp stuck in direct route mode

Basecamp was working fine until I used direct mode to lay a custom route.
Basecamp is now stuck in direct route mode and nothing I have done can get it back to auto routing.
I have uninstalled and reiinstalled the software, deleted folders, cleaned the registry , etc.
I have googled this problem and applied what advice I could find to no avail.
No matter if I am in car, motorcycle mode, or whatever, if I pick two points it gives me a direct route.
Any advice would be helpful.

Well there are a couple of places to look. Any saved route can be changed by going into route properties and changing the routing in the drop down box at the top. To make future routes use a different profile enable the Actuvity profile menu in the toolbar, View, Toolbars and select Activity profiles. Now select which one you want in the drop down box.

I feel so dumb
I figured it out.
It was using the global map that comes with basecamp.
I transferred the map from my zumo xt to basecamp so now I can lay routes without my gps hooked up.

Ah ok, guess when it was working you must have had your Zumo connected
