Have any Mapsource experts out there managed to get it to recognise a Zumo595 when you plug it in? Not a huge problem but as it is you have to save the Mapsource doc as a .gpx and then drag & drop it into the 595 memory. It would be nice to be able to send the route straight from Mapsource as you can with a 550.
And no, I hate Basecamp so I won't use it.
Mapsource & Zumo595?
Re: Mapsource & Zumo595?
Set your device to mass storage mode and MapSource will see it, but having used BaseCamp for many years now it's far superior to MapSource, but if the latter suits your needs then enjoy

Re: Mapsource & Zumo595?
Thanks for that. I'll give it ago next time I plot a route.
As for Mapsource, I got used to it years ago and it does everything I want/need very simply. Basecamp is just too complicated with more features (that I don't need) than the space shuttle.

Re: Mapsource & Zumo595?
Tried this but can't figure out how to set it to mass storage mode. Can't see anything in "settings" and nothing after it's connected to the computer seems to allow it. Help please.
Re: Mapsource & Zumo595?
I don't have your model but it should be something like this:
1. Start device by itself and go to Volume Screen.
2. Press the upper right hand corner of screen for 10 seconds.
3. The Developers Screen will pop up
(may see Configuration and Settings, if so select it)
4. Scroll down to MTP SETTINGS
5. Change from AUTO DETECT to MASS STORAGE
6. Shut down the device and connect to PC
7. It should now connect in mass storage mode.
As an alternative to step 1 and 2 above, you can bring up the "trip information" screen by tapping the speed icon, then press and hold the speedometer for about 10 seconds to access the developer screen. Now go from step 3.

Re: Mapsource & Zumo595?
Much appreciated thanks. Seems to have worked for Dave but I'm not seeing a way to scroll anywhere. "up" & "down" alters the screen brightness. "next" goes into some test screen or other.sussamb wrote: ↑24 Mar 2019 08:25 I don't have your model but it should be something like this:

OK, I went in through the "speedo" method and found what you say. Beats me how you find out about this stuff.
Re: Mapsource & Zumo595?
Glad all sorted, as for finding out about it, same way you did but many years ago when I got my first Garmin, simply asking questions, following discussions on forums like this and having a play
Re: Mapsource & Zumo595?
Trying to get to developers screen on my 665LM. Above methods, on the volume screen or the speedo, no response. Basically the same, trying to get mapsource to recognize the device, via mass storage mode. Can get to the diagnostics screen using the compass press. Trying presses on many screens, haven't stumbled on it yet. HELP! Thx.
