Re: ALTITUDE READING
It is called "Elevation". It is a map tool. AFAK, it only functions when following a route. The info in the XT2 manual is the same as is in the XT manual.

If indeed the XT2 is like the XT, I use elevation all the time without following a route. Touch View Map. Touch in the bottom right the white area the usually shows N, E, S or W. You can choose what to display, elevation is one.

Ah yes. I recall that one now. That is one of the many undocumented options behind screen item that you don't are clickable and configurable.
The Elevation map tool is referred to as "up ahead" elevation in the manual so it would make sense that a route would be required for it. It is grayed-out for me when I am just viewing the map.

Re: ALTITUDE READING
Elevation is also shown with other trip data displayed by pressing the map speed indicator, with or without a route in progress.
I only use GPS (phone or Zumo) elevation to get a very rough idea of altitude. Elevation errors of 75 feet or more are common. The readings seldom match an actual surveyed map, and can vary substantially on repeated visits to the same location.

Re: ALTITUDE READING
Thank you for the feedback. I was asking with regards to my Nav6 for my BMW 1600, you can change the viewing screen presentation. Thus elevation and direction I add with time to arrive and milage remains. I can not see the ability to change the XT2.
