Garmin Zumo XT Went Dead Again

Post by Jim1348 »

My Garmin Zumo XT went dead again. It had been on a 6 amp 12 volt power supply for a few hours. I turned it off and it would not power up, again.
The last time that happened, I left it on the power supply over night and in the morning it did power up again. I am trying that again and hope it comes back.

I recall reading here that others have has the same issue.

I have had mine fail to wake up from standby after stopping during a ride, twice. An overnight on an AC wall charger cured it both times.

6 amp charger? you said 6amp at 12 voits. isn't that too high an amps? I would feel better using 1.5amps or no higher than 2.1

No, that is not a concern. My vehicle has a 10 amp 12 volt power outlet and I have plugged in devices, like my Garmin, that don't need that much.

Now, if you have a device that requires 12 VDC and you increase the voltage significantly, you will have a problem at some point.
