Convert from Garmin to Tonm Tom

I friend of mine uses a Tom Tom GPS. I gave him some routes and waypoints but he told me he can't load them even though they are GPX.

Is there a way to convert from Garmin to Tom Tom?

TomTom uses .ITN files. There are a number of online converters, but the official TomTom method will probably work: https://help.tomtom.com/hc/en-us/articl ... -ITN-files

If I share trips with a TomTom user, I convert the routes to tracks first. They're unable to handle routes, from what I hear.

It rather depends on what Tomtom device your friend has, older Tomtoms can only handle .itn files later devices can use both .itn and .gpx
What model of Tomtom is it?

If he has an early model he can convert the .gpx to .itn in a number of ways, ITN Converter or Tomtoms online planner, Tyre To Travel and many others.
