They are pushing Garmin Explore. Here is an overview webpage:

Read lots of posts about it before you jump onboard because there are a good number of folks who are not fans of it. Basecamp may no longer be under development but it still works. I will be sticking with it until it doesn't.

I've been using Mapsource for at least 15 years, just my opinion of course, but it doesn't need 'updating' it works perfectly (for me) just as it is.
I use it with my Zumo 660, my Camper 760 , and my wifes Drive 40, with excellent results.
I do use Basecamp occasionally, mainly to recalculate a batch of routes all at once, something Mapsource can't do... but generally find Basecamp far to 'fussy'.

I too will stick with Base Camp as long as it functions. I remember all the predictions of demise of Mapsource too. None of it matters.
I found the transition from Mapsource to Base Camp to be easy and painless but I understand how it is with others. I couldn't figure out Tyre either

Interesting! This is a quote from an email I received from Garmin Product Support when I inquired into a route recalc issue:
"I understand you are using BaseCamp to import routes. An alternative option that provides a much better end user experience is using the Garmin Explore app. Here is more information on using Garmin Explore: ..."
I consider that a strong nudge towards Explore over BaseCamp.

Says the App isn't designed for it https://support.garmin.com/en-GB/?faq=o ... wZzO1ME7z9
Explore does work with the XT https://explore.garmin.com/Account/GarminUser

I am very surprised that Garmin support directed me to use the app with my XT when it clearly is not supported. Obviously they need to do a much better job of differentiating between usage of the Garmin Explore website and the Garmin Explore app. I do not have any experience with either nor do I care to pursue Explore as long as Basecamp is doing everything I need it to do.

Old thread, but I'm new to Basecamp and frustrated that it crashes so much on Mac. I've been trying the Explore site but as far as I can tell all it allows you to do is select a few points and send them to a device to be routed, which isn't much use if you want to be specific about which roads to take. MRA seems better but I haven't figured out the intricacies of exporting correctly for Zumo or Montana. It seems to make a route with only the start and end points, and a track with all the shaping points, but no way to combine them into what Zumo calls a "trip."
