Well you could try getting hold of the Service Packs from Microsoft.
I doubt if I have them lying around any more. I'll take a look. SP1 and SP2 were quite important, I seem to remember - but memory aint so good !
But you said it worked with your 450 ????

Yes it worked with my old 450, my friends xt and my xt once but it took a but to get mine to work. The only time mine worked it was right after we tried my friend xt. That’s why I’m confused about it too. It worked once it should work always.

Cable is still suspect? I guess the 450 uses a different cable from the XT ??

The 450 uses the same cable. I have tried 3 different one on each gps, one of the three is the new Garmin cable that came with the xt. I had the same results on all three cables and three different USB outlets.
