Roundabout not been there 2 years

Post by semmyroundel »

I'm getting to know my XT and it's good, make no mistake.
However, along my road, there was a mini roundabout that's not been there for well over 2 years, the XT still thinks it's there.
I'm guessing you'll say it's the highways agency at fault?

What about when I know the here map data is correct and the XT has received at least two map updates since Here was updated.

Why would it still be having out of date roads then?

I could but my complaint is that Garmin doesn't know that it's not there, and I'm not THAT bothered about it, but what does bother me is: how many other places don't exist?
Interestingly. I used my TomTom go app on my phone today, and it knew it wasn't there.
I'll use that link to report it and see how long it takes to disappear from the map.

Garmin get their maps from HERE and they update maps based on information from numerous sources, including local authorities and users like yourself. On this occasion it seems no one else has bothered to update HERE. My experience over at least 10 years is that even new roads, housing estates etc appear promptly on Garmin maps, in some cases even before the roads are open. It all depends on how accurate the information given to HERE is.

There's some "out of date" map info around me as well, so don't feel bad.
We have an old railroad spur that has been out of service at least 20yrs, and is now a bike trail.
I get "school crossing" warning for the local bus storage/maintenance barn, yet I get no notification for one of the elementary schools that's been open for over 50 years...
My recent OSM map shows them accurately.
Like others have mentioned, the maps are only as accurate as the data the map compilers have been given to work with.

I agree, but how is it that Tom Tom had that update and Garmin did not? Do they not use Here?
My concern is if it is indicative generally of maps missing info.
