XT Traffic Alerts

Post by wingrider.steve »

I have a problem with the traffic info on my XT.
The traffic info was unreliable so I turned off all traffic alerts in the XT settings but they still pop up on the screen from time to time.
How can I completely stop the traffic alerts appearing?

Do you want to use the weather etc features as well from the Smartphone Link?

It looks to me that only if you disable the Smartphone Link completely will there be no chance of seeing any traffic alerts.

Don't forget that you have the choice to ignore the warnings! If they are infrequent it shouldn't be much of an annoyance.

@wingrider.steve - do you have completely shut down your Zumo XT in the meantime (long press on the on/off button until a dialogue box appeared on the screen and ask for confirmation)?

Had the same problems with traffic information here in Austria and Italy (wrong and overdue informations) and turned off on the Zumo XT - my findings where, that the Zumo XT seems to store the last traffic announcements in memory and only to clear them, when it was shut down completely and restarted again! A short press (standby) does not do it!

Since i've done this, no more informations regarding traffic and the Garmin Drive app is already running - i got weather information and can send/receive tracks/routes/waypoints.
Bye, Robert :)

Yes I did a full shutdown then restarted the Zumo but it made no difference, I still get unwanted traffic alerts.

There is a "Traffic" option in "Map Layers". I wonder if this could be triggering the alerts you are seeing.

Yes - I think that there are a few sources of Traffic Info. I don't pretent to know which ones turn what features on and off. But you can make a good guess.

As @Peobody mentioned above
And all settings -> Traffic -> with three things to turn off.
i)Traffic - checkbox
ii)Optimise Route - set to on request
iii)Traffic alerts - Off.

If you have an iphone you may be able to set other option on the XT.
If you have an android, then you can controll info / alerts coming in from the phone / Drive App.
On your phone allow the phone to send alarts to the drive app.
In the drive app, the gear settings menu, smart notifications - turn off most things except the ones that you really want - eg messages.

Do not allow Drive to connect to the Explore Database.
Have owned Zumo 550, 660 == Now have Zumo XT2, XT, 595, 590, Headache
Use Basecamp (mainly), MyRouteApp (sometimes), Competent with Tread for XT2, Can use Explore for XT - but it offers nothing that I want !
