Garmin Express v7.25.0 has been released

There is a post on the Garmin forum reporting the Windows 11 Smart App Control is blocking the installation of GE 7.25.0. . Could Garmin have released it with a valid certificate???

now in my (not-so-smart) opinion, I want to say this..
what I think happened there for that other person on the Garmin forum who had that issue , he was quick when he updated Garmin Express to 7.25.0 ... he may have had his windows11 settings Smart App Control = ON

I also think Garmin at the same time he was doing the update that Garmin did NOT release (to Microsoft) the new Express version 7.25 update for a valid (safe) certificate, maybe Garmin has since released a certificate for 7.25 to Microsoft and it's ok now, (I am just guessing), maybe it takes time for companies to inform Microsoft for a safe app certificate, and maybe that other person updated right before Garmin informed Microsoft of the new version, so maybe it's ok to have windows 11 Smart App Control settings = OFF, only if you trust the app download sources to your computer, otherwise have Smart App Control = ON ,-or- maybe wait a bit before being quick updating apps, but on 2nd thought, maybe just ignore everything I just said lol

I think you're absolutely correct. I went through this a few yrs back when I updated GE when it first came out. I now wait a least a couple of weeks before doing anything. We've even seen it on rollout- some people update, others say it's not available yet. IMHO everyone is better off waiting. What's the hurry anyway? Why the urgency? The world and maps won't end just because you wait a few weeks.

Garmin uses Express to manage updates on many different devices. Most of the Express updates are to correct update bugs for those devices, or to work with new devices.

If you are able to successfully update your Zumo with your current Express version, there is no need to update Express.

Does it still prevent the XT2 from downloading maps to the computer?

On April 12th there was a post in the XT@ forum where @proofresistant stated that the option to install map to computer was there in v7.25.0 but he hadn't tested it yet. This is that discussion: https://www.zumouserforums.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=3247

I think @lkraus has it right with this statement made earlier in this discussion:

Yes "Peobody" - thats right. Maybee we are to eager in updating our softwears. Thou good to knew if it workes again in case I happens to tap "ok" when Express urged me to update.
