Put the route in a separate list, export that as a gpx then email it.

I made a folder in My Documents on my computer called Garmin Routes.

In Base Camp:

- in the bottom left, highlight the route you want to email;
- at top, File/Export/Export Selection. If you choose XX file name instead of Selection, it exports ALL the routes as you describe;
- select where you want to export it to (Garmin Routes for me above) and SAVE.

Now you can attach that 1 file (route) to an email.

I think you are selecting too much.
As @rbentnail said, Bottom left, select only the individual item(s) you want to include.
Then File>Export>Export Selection

Then I suspect you're not doing what is described above. Please check carefully you only have the route you want to export selected.

Typically when Base Camp is opened, the entire Collection (on the left, top) is highlighted. You have to pick a singular list. In the top left pane it's broken down by Collection/List Folders/Lists. Highlight a list.

Then in the bottom left pane, highlight a single route. Then follow the instructions above.

So you are sending your route by email

You are selecting just the route, and then using the option to 'Export Selection' ?

You then have to save the result in a file somewhere. Something unique. For example "Exported Routes 13 May 1734 Attempt 327.gpx"
Make sure that you know where you have saved it. ie which disk drive and which folder.

Start a new email and send the file with your new unique name.

But be aware - if you have used any Waypoints (created with the BC flag tool) in your route, they will be included in the route and will be loaded into the Zumos 'Favourites'/'Saved' - even though you didn't actually select them from the Basecamp list. That is because they have to be - they are part of the route.
Have owned Zumo 550, 660 == Now have Zumo XT2, XT, 595, 590, Headache
Use Basecamp (mainly), MyRouteApp (sometimes)
