Do either of you lock the mount to the bike as well?

I do not. Don't see the point since the mount is basically hardwired. I've always gotten the impression that thievery from motobikes is much worse over yonder than it is here in The States. Europeans always talk about cut cables and helmet straps when we rarely hear of such things here. In more than 200,000 miles since 2008, I have never had my bike or luggage messed with. Not even once.

I use a RAM Ball mount. I replaced the wing nut with a bolt and nut. It would be a lot of work/time to get it off the bike but I've never had anything messed with either.

This week I was trying to be creative and test my welding skills as a total beginner 8-)

I designed this based on some other popular designs out there. It cost me nothing - all of the material I already had at home. In general there is just a plate and two nuts welded in a right place. It is all made of inox, so it won't rust.

I still need to change the "main" screw. I plan to use allen head screw as it is much harder to unscrew with hand and then I will probably buy the allen key as a keychain to carry on my motorcycle keys.

I am not going to leave my Zumo anywhere for a longer period of time, never over night, but I am sure it will give me some peace of mind when I go grab a coffee or pay for my petrol... Anyway, ride safe everybody :)
