I've charged up my Samsung android phones with the 595's USB lead. It only gives out 1/2 an amp, and the GPS has to be on for it to be powered. i can't find the instruction sheet on how to do it but I'm sure someone here must have it. It shows that the u shape copper does not go out enough to make a good contact on the battery connector. It only effects the charging with the usb and not the charging on the mount
