Sometimes mine doesn't show fully charged but it is!

Press and hold the battery icon for around 5 - 10 seconds and a screen will open with a lot of info on and when plugged in it will tell you if its charged or charging


Is there any way to get out of that mode ...

Garmin has these features on the US models. You might use these key words to do a search
