I have suffered intermittent poor Sound quality across 3 bikes and 3 different autocom/headset setups. I think it stems from the order devices pair in as sometimes its crystal clear and sometimes crackly. Does the XT also suffer or have they ...

Do you have a picture instead, does this just cover the release button. How hard is it to remove with this installed.

I haven't found it to be hit and miss - once I had realised that the ECU was casuing problems.
I also used to have my phone plugged into the USB socket in my top box - but that would occasionally disconnect.
No such problems if it is further forward on the bike.
