I'm not keen on converting tracks to trips. They can get stuck in RUT behaviour in cases where a road is closed, and you cannot display ETA for next stops - which my pillion likes.
Because if you leave the plotted route, they head for closest they can produce some interesting errors - eg heading for the route back on circular routes. But they do stay put if you don't deviate.
I know a lot of people like that feature though. It's a good standby if you share routes. But for me it's a 'make do' / 'put up with it' solution.
As is every other thing with Tread / Xt2.

I want some of my points announced, eg view points so my method is the least painful for me. Which might not be the least painful for someone else.
Oh for a bright screen and the routing algorithms of the 590, like the XT was in its early days.

I make my routes in Basecamp. Convert them to a track ( in basecamp ) Import the track via Tread in the XT2. Convert track to a route via tread and sync to XT2. In XT 2 recalulation is off. Track is made visiable onde the converted route. This works like a charm
Thanks for the info. I'm willing to give anything a go at this point! Just a bit confused about the "
onde the converted route" bit in your post ?
Thanks

And that's not all folks (OP here) .... Today the entire XT2 screen stopped reacting to touch input.
Perfect bloody timing after I had spent days planing out a big trip manually with the inbuilt "Route PLanner
The "Big Trip" (9 days and 8 nights 2,000 Kms) is due to start in 3 weeks.
F'n brilliant ...Not!
I have contacted Garmin Support Australia. Looks like it's gonna be a return to sender event!

Let if cool down and try again. Turn it off completely - long press the power button.
The Zumo is designed to work on a bike with fast flowing air. I've noticed that when it is in my hand in the house, it gets rather warm and then the screen starts playing up.
Give it chance and then try again.

24 Hrs + later. Unit has been stored in 12 to 27C range. XT2 is still unresponsive to touch. I have just now had to spend another $50.00 Australian on a new RAM Mount, so I can re-mount my Quad Lock, and go back to using Google Maps on my iPhone. Thanks Garmin ...NOT!

Sorry to hear that. Get onto Garmin Tech support. Phone them. If the system ask if you want them to call back, the I would say yes - They have called back much faster than their anticipated wait time when I have done that.
The XT2 has a two year guarantee. If it is older than that then most of the time during covid you couldn't use it - and they may knopw of a hardware issue in earlier models....
Once they say send it back - they have a unit already earmarked for you to send as soon as yours is recognised from the return number that they give you. It will be a refurbished one, but it is unlikely to be an older one than the one that you have.

I have been in contact with Garmin.
As requested by Garmin Australia, I have sent them a short 15 second video, showing that the screen is non-functioning. It's still the weekend here in OZ. Hopefully in the next couple of days I will get more instructions from Garmin.
Would be great if they could "copy" the planned routes I have on the dead screen device, onto any "new" device they might send back to me. Will just have to wait a see.
The XT2 I have, is less than a year old and was purchased directly from the Garmin Australia Website. Hopefully that gives me some "brownie" points with regards to getting the problem soughted asap.

If you connect the XT2 to a computer, does it see it?
If it does, I'd guess that finding the gpx file might get you that information.

When I connect it to my computer via a USB-C cable, I can see that the XT2 is asking me if I want to connect to my computer, (on the units home screen), but as it requires a "touch" response to the "question", I can go no further with it.
