Thanks to rbentnail and Peobody,
I have just added a flagged route point - Via point, and a blue disc Shaping point directly on the XT map.
I am heading out on my machine shortly (R1250RS) and will see how that all goes.

but you would need to make sure this Waypoint is moved to the centre of the magenta route, if not already, would you not?

That is interesting Colirv. I did not know that.
One of my forum learnings is to place route points on the desired outbound leg of an intersection, and generally not at the junction, so I take that approach. I hope I have that correct, I understand the reasoning behind it.
