Hmmm, good point here.

Re: Being forced to go back to a waypoint
It's certainly making me rethink where and when to use Waypoints for a week long trip next month! Just don't confuse the Waypoints with Via Points and Shaping Points. Like jfheath said before, anything can be a Waypoint. When creating a route, use the Shaping Points (none-alert) for all stages of t...

Re: Planned distance not making sense
The problem with base camp is that it needs to connect to the Zumo XT to upload the maps. And it won't connect, That's new to me. All my navs, even the 12 y/o Nuvi 1450 can connect to BC. Another alternative is to plan a route in Furkot.com. The full version to include the Via and Shaping points fo...

Re: Planned distance not making sense
I planned some routes on Kurviger and exported them to Garmin gpx format. I imported them in to the web based explorer, but the distance does not make sense at all,... A route is easily double or more shown in km than in reality?? What could be the issue here? Something to worry abt?? thnx Robert M...

Re: Being forced to go back to a waypoint
Plot a route and you could join it anywhere That is/was golden. It beats me why they didn't carry over this function instead of coding the silly "nearest entry point" which does not always work right. Moreover, there's nothing even like that exists in 396, so to start the route from some ...

Re: Being forced to go back to a waypoint
Garmin Montana is using the older software not in the XT. It reads the Via or Shaping points differently. I had the 660 and if I missed a point, it would automatically continue on my route. It treated a Via point as a Shaping point, yet it would announce it. Looks like the programmers who developed ...

Re: Adding the shaping points
Hmmm ... that shouldn't happen. If you duplicate a route you can make changes without affecting the original, even if it's in the same folder. Exactly what change did you make? I've experimented more with Duplicates. The changes in a duplicate will not be lit in the original and V/S. So you can rem...

I expanded the route by adding few more miles to it. Yes, the Copy vs the Duplicate is confusing. Although, I suspect that...

Re: Adding the shaping points
Thanks, but what's the purpose of Copy if it repeat all changes of the original? Recently I made a Duplicate of my route (in the same directory). I made a small change in it, but it still replicated that change in the original route. Only when I made a different subfolder and moved the Duplicated ro...
