Yes, you can if the map is installed to your computer by Express but that only installs just the map. The Express 'map' update installs other files as well so always best to use Express to update your device if possible.

Do not use 5G wifi, use 2.4G, 1st test with your router to make sure that it is working on 2.4G

Your best bet would be to run Express again and get it to reinstall the map, that may resolve it or you may be told to either install a memory card or accept a smaller region.
