Sending Trips, Routes, Tracks and Waypoints to the XT.

Pic 1 - Check your Basecamp Transfer Settings

In Basecamp: Edit -> Options -> Device Transfer

Make sure that all of the tick boxes are clear.

Recalculate the routes before transferring to the XT

Pic 2 - The Database List

This shows one of my Trip databases - this one is called 2019 Tours. as shown on the left hand side of the Basecamp screen. I have a number of yellow ‘List Folders’ one of which - Scotland 2019 - I have expanded so that I can see the ‘Lists’ that I have created. I have one list for each day of the Trip and I have named them with a 2 digit sequence number, followed by the day, date and destination.

The List 01 Thu 23 Dumfries is currently selected, and at the bottom the contents of the selected list is displayed - it shows Waypoints (Flags), Tracks (Footprints) and Trips (motorcycle). I have added the sequence number and the mileage to the name of each Waypoint.

Pic 2: Transfer Two Different Routes

Two different routes to Dumfries are selected for transfer to the Zumo, They have been highlighted by clicking on one and then holding the CTRL key down and clicking on the other.

I want to Transfer them to Internal Storage. Here are two methods:
  • Drag the highlighted items to the Zumo XT Internal Storage
  • Select the menu item Device -> Send to Device -> Send Selection to Device -> then select Zumo XT .

It doesn’t matter which method you use. What does matter is that the green progress bar completes, and the yellow circle on the Internal Storage folder changes to a tick in a green circle. If that doesn’t happen, then the files have not been transferred. Pic 3

Sometimes it fails because Basecamp need to talk to the Zumo when you first connect the USB cable, and it hasn’t finished its conversation.

Files can be transferred to the SD card in a similar way.

What gets transferred ?

Using the image of my database Pic 2 as an example:

Select List Folder 2019 Tours to transfer the contents of the entire database.
Select List Folder Scotland 2019 to transfer all 4 lists within that folder
Select a List (eg 01 Thu 23 Dumfries) to transfer all of the entries in the list.
Select an Individual Route (eg 01 Dumfries 152m) to transfer the Trip and any Waypoints / Favourites that form part of the Trip.
Any Saved Waypoints that are not part of the trip would need to be transferred separately.

Importing Trips, Tracks and Waypoints

A Trip needs to be imported before it can be used by the Zūmo for navigation. You can transfer as many Trips as will fit in Internal Storage, but practically the limit is 100 - as the XT will display only the first 100 as being available for import.

Trips           :  Apps ->Trip Planner -> 3 Bar Menu -> Import
Tracks *       :  Apps -> Tracks -> Spanner -> Import
Waypoints * :  Where To -> (All Favourites) -> 3 Bar Menu -> Import

* Tracks and Waypoints are imported automatically if transferred to Internal Storage. Note that Trips can be imported more than once. Duplicates have a number added.
