Old Maps

Post by Scarecrow »

Hi Folks
This has probably been asked before but I cant find anything on search.
I have City Navigator Europe NT 2015.40 thru to 2020.30 on my computer
can I delete the older maps say up to 2020.10
to free up space on the computer or will it affect things.
I Hope this makes sense
Cheers
Del

I always delete maps via the add/remove program app.
Also there is a massive folder called coreservice In ProgramData that seems to remain after update.
I delete after all units have been updated.

Just to clarify this. Express downloads the files required to compile the map in .img format that it then sends to your device. These files are the ones in C:\ProgramData\Garmin\CoreService\Downloads\Map

The files aren't removed by Express and build up over time if you don't delete them. They aren't deleted via Control Panel.

If you elect to install the map to your computer for BaseCamp to use they are stored elsewhere, and can be deleted through Control Panel.
