I found the maps smoother than basecamp and adding waypoints to for the route just makes them shaping points but you still have to import it to basecamp to check which isn't a problem
Can ITN converter be used to convert a route created in Garmin Basecamp to Google maps?... I installed it but it wont import a .gdb file..
There is some issues with Google maps! They have changed their API terms and put priced a lot of people! As a result Google maps no longer works with ITN converter and a whole host of services!

I'm running version 4.7.1. I've found a link to download the older version, you suggesting I should download and use that if I want to use it in conjunction with Google Maps?

Yes. The 4.6.2 works with google earth.
