Radius Rings
Re: Radius Rings
It would be nice to have some kind of drawing tools like a radius or even a line tool.
I use the tracking tool to create a circle around an area I would like to avoid. I don’t load it on to my gps, I only use it as a tool when I am creating a route.
For example, I will draw a straight line (with the tracking tool) from where I live to let’s say half way across the country.
Then I create a route to my liking to get me to point ‘b’.
It helps when I zoom in to be able to see where I want to go and I try to stay somewhat near the line.
Similarly I make a giant circle (with the tracking tool) around an area that I want to avoid.
It’s quick and easy. I think MapSource used to have line and circle tools.

Re: Radius Rings
I don't recall MS having anything like you describe but the proximity alert would show a ring around the waypoint.
Basecamp does provide for creating avoidance areas as you described although it does not provide circles, rather rectangular areas.

Re: Radius Rings
You could generate a track in Excel or similar and import via a CSV I think. But no easy way.
Re: Radius Rings
You can create a waypoint in BaseCamp and set a proximity circle, that is transferred to your Zumo if you send the waypoint, but note you're replying to an old thread.
