What do you mean?

- The GPX files are on your computer, how to get them on the XT3?
- There are already collections on the XT3 containing trips/routes. How to start them?

It's for the XT2, but most things work the same for the XT3.
In 'Making it work for you' viewtopic.php?t=3361 look for sections 4.02 and 4.05 how to transfer

Assuming you first want to select a collection, and then a route within that collection.

From the Main Screen.

- Click on 'Saved'
- On the Top left select 'Collections'. (It could also read: All, Waypoints, Tracks, Routes)
- Select the Collection
- Select a route within thatt collection
- Hit Go!
- Select the Destination (Start, Closes Entry Point, End, or via point)

For the navigation instructions to start make sure you have a GPS fix. The XT3 needs to know here your are (Go outside if you have to)

Well.
The challenge begins with being unable to locate “Saved”…
There is no “Collections” on the top left..

When I do locate Collections it is found by selecting “Route Planner”, then clicking on the stacked squares in the top right hand corner, then I see Collections..
I can then see the various .gpx files - Day 1, Day 2 etc…with a box that I can put a tick mark in to select that file..but I cannot find a way to do anything with that route..
There is a left arrow, which takes me back to the home screen to create a route..

Ok…a small step. I discovered that the labels for the .gpx files were in the garmin, but not the files.
So…I deleted the Bluetooth pairing in my phone, then re-created it.
Then Confirmed that the unit was connected to my phone..
Then I selected all of the files in Tread
Then I hit “sync” in Tread..,
Still nothing.
I have about 25 .gpx files ..does that number of files exceed the capacity of the Garmin?

Hi @CollingsBob,

I had noticed something similar, duringI had deliberately tested it analytically and manually experimented with the settings in the hidden database.
I had changed a setting to disable Explore, and that wasn't a good idea.

My recommendation is to completely reset the zumo XT3 to its factory settings and delete all user data in the process!

@CollingsBob

I might suggest trying to narrow down where the problem is occurring - e.g gpx file or the Tread App or the XT3.

Maybe start with just one gpx file and get that working.

Does that one look OK if you bring it into something like Basecamp?
Does it contain a track, a route, waypoints?

If it looks OK there, then try connecting the XT3 to the computer and sending that one file from computer to zumo via USB cable, or alternately via sd card and importing it to the zumo.

If that works, try it again via Tread.

If all that works try a few more files.

Let us know how far you get.

@CollingsBob,

Here are a few basic tips that might be helpful
  • Try using FrankB's TripManager; with TM, you can also see content that would otherwise remain hidden, and that can be a big help
  • Unfortunately, GPX files are “merely” containers.
You can “only” use GPX files to exchange data and save them on the device for import purposes.
The GPX files have no function on the device and are not used there (except for import/export)!
The content of the GPX files is fundamental: these are the Routes (possibly including their "ghost points"), the Tracks, and the Waypoints.
  • Routes, Tracks, and/or Waypoints are stored on the device (System Workspace).
They can (but do not have to) be assigned to collections in the device or Tread app.
    Automated assignments are:
    • Unorganized
    • Recently imported
It's also special here that calculated routes are still saved as trips, but that's a whole other topic
  • The number of routes, tracks, and waypoints is likely unlimited.
At least, I don't know of any user who has reached that limit, and I myself have used over 100 items.
But keep in mind that too much data will eventually slow the device down noticeably. So it's better to use less than more ;-)
