After hours of trying to move routes from My Route App I'm starting to wonder if I've done the right thing!
Hopefully will get some help from you guys.

There shouldn't be a problem.Antiquebiker wrote: Fri May 08, 2026 3:26 pm recently upgraded from the XT to the XT2.

Thank you for this, I was starting to think it was me!jfheath wrote: Fri May 08, 2026 4:00 pmThere shouldn't be a problem.Antiquebiker wrote: Fri May 08, 2026 3:26 pm recently upgraded from the XT to the XT2.

Export your route as GPX files - route , track, waypoints v 1.1
This can be imported into the XT2 - the XT2 will recalculate it and since it likes to use nearby faster roads, it will probably not be the same as the one you plotted. But on the XT2 it is much easier to display the track and the route together by using collections. (A bit like putting everything for one route into its own folder). You can then make the contents of one or more folders visible (or not) on the map.
Having the track is really useful - that never alters. If the route alters, the track becomes visible - it was alwyas there - just underneath the route.
There are other issues with both the XT1 and the XT2 reagrding moved route points, and a weird behaviour which in certain circumstances allows the stanav to get stuck in a never ending loop of demanding you go back the wya that you have just ridden - simply because you chose to go a different way. I call it 'RUT behaviour'. Don't ask. But it is real, it is a problems and GArmin know about it and haven't fixed it.
Bet we have. And the best solution is the one develoepd by @FrankB - called Trip Manager. It runs on a PC. He has made it free for people to download and use. It runs on a PC / Windows.
The process is this
Do not allow your Zumo to synch with the Tread App. You can have tread installed on your phone, but you don't have to let it synch or save data.
Save your GPX file from whatever mapping program you like.
Load Trip Manager. Access the GPX file(s).
Send them to the XT1 / XT2 as trips.
It by passes the normal import process and you routes appear in the Zumo the next time ou turn it on. And they behave perfectly. Every time.
I'll leave it to others to provide you with the links and extra information. But ever since I got the XT1 and then the XT2 - I've been tearing my hair out about how they behave. This gem of a program fixes everything. Including my hair follicles.
Good luck with that. If you have questions about TripManager I'll be happy to answer them. There is a thread for TripManager: viewtopic.php?t=3150

Trip Manager really is a game changer for the XT series. You still connect by USB cable - but let trip manager handle the transfer. No gpx file goes to the zumo. It builds to necessary file on the zumo itself. You must have the .System folder visible, and that has to be set up ont he Zumo folder first.Antiquebiker wrote: Fri May 08, 2026 9:42 pm Quick update,
Firstly, thank you guys for all your help with this, much appreciated.
I've had a play with TripManager and with my little tech experience, I'm going to have to sit down and have a good read of the instructions. It's very comprehensive so need to get a good understanding of it before I get too impatient and launch the XT2 out of the window.![]()
I did a series of tests recently and proved to myself and others beyons all doubt that the changes to a route happen because the Tread app has synch'd to the Explore database. Remove the Tread storage/sych and the same tests pass with flying colours.Antiquebiker wrote: Fri May 08, 2026 9:42 pm In the meantime, I followed the instruction on how to get the Tread app connected without allowing it to sync, this is what I think has been my issue up until now. Export routes from MRA to Tread, sync to XT2 then it all goes horribly wrong! 3 or 4 copies of the same route, routes linking together and all sorts of other issues.
Its a gpx file and that is all that is needed. Use v1.1 for the MRA gpx route export. That contains the shaping points (MRA teardrops) and the via points (MRA hands). Any MRA POI's that you have included int he route show up in the XT2#s list of Waypoints. Unfortunately, MRA does not allow you to create your own POIs and build them into a route - so they do not show up in the XT2's waypoint list.Antiquebiker wrote: Fri May 08, 2026 9:42 pm
So have just now, gone back to the old school way and saved .gpx files from MRA and copied them across via a usb cable and no syncing to Tread, Perfect!
The XT and Drive App with the Explore link did use to cause problems, which went away when the Drive App was removed. I don't know if they ever fixed the issues. I wouldn't have noticed - I tried to like it but it kept causing odd issues, so I never had it loaded except for testing purposes. It was a pity that they did not implement Collections on the XT1 without linking to the Explore App.Antiquebiker wrote: Fri May 08, 2026 9:42 pm It's a shame really as doing it via the phone app is very convenient but seems very unstable, I don't ever remember having this trouble with the XT and the old Garmin app. I suppose that's progress for you.
