FIXED - Drive app (Android) fails to login and connect

Looking if anyone can offer advice or has experience this or similar issue.

Short summary: Android Drive app will not login to Garmin account.

Drive app displays login failed please try again. (Interestingly if I use an INCORRECT password it displays an incorrect password alert).

Zumo XT DOES connect BT to phone (Android Galaxy S20).

In XT Wireless Networks screen shows both Audio and Drive symbols as blue and Drive connected. However on XT main menu the Drive symbol remains white.

No sync is occuring.

Have verified all updates done to XT and Phone. Deleted android Drive app and reinstalled. Drive app ver. 4.28.06 released 4/1/2026 (geez, on April Fool's Day!).

Am hesitant to do some further reset of Zumo, especially if the recent Drive app release is the problem.

Advice welcomed!

Wish I had an answer for you but I'm having problems with Drive as well. Sometimes lately it won't connect. To me not that big a deal but I have gotten used to having traffic and weather info. Another thing- I'll be 8 or 10 miles away from my XT at work and Drive spontaneously tries to connect.

I have no idea what's going on with it.

The behavior I see is surprising in the my XT will connect to Drive on my iPhone without the Drive app being opened. I can't remember the last time in intentionally opened the Drive app with the XT connected. Surprisingly, each time I close the Drive app I receive a notice to the effect of 'keep the Garmin Drive app running for best experience...' but I have never found the need to leave it running. My XT boots and connects to my phone. I then see the Drive logo in the upper right on the XT, and have traffic, weather, phone call capability, and phone texts & notifications display. That said, there have been differences identified between the Apple app and the Android app so my reporting of my iPhone experience my be worthless to an Androider.

Thanks all. My problem seems to be that the Android Drive app will not login to my GARMIN ACCOUNT - which leads to not connecting to the XT.

Will probably eventually try factory reset of XT, but first I am hoping for some Drive app update from Garmin.

On my iPhone I must explicitly allow connections, bluetooth and cellular data in my case. I wonder if Android is the same and that the connection needed to login to Garmin is not allowed.

The Drive app on my phone wants to "reset the Bluetooth on my phone" to connect to my XT. Then it wants my email and password for my Garmin acct. AFAIK I do NOT have an email associated with my Garmin account, only a user name and password. Who knows? I just keep getting "invalid sign in". So I went on the 'puter to search and retrieved my credentials. Invalid on the phone. So I finally found an email and reset my password. Works on the 'puter. Invalid on the phone, even tho I'm entering the reset info ON THE PHONE!!!!!

FWIW, logging in to your account on garmin.com prompts for an email address and password. Perhaps it was once possible to create an account with just a username and password but email address is not being required??? My only suggestion is to confirm that you can login to your account and, if you can with a username, add an email address to your profile. While in your Garmin account profile, there is an "Email preferences" link that you may want to visit. Confirm garmin.com login works with the email address then use those credentials in Drive.

I think I got it sorted out by doing what you've suggested- going online, logging in, adding an email and updating the password. Then logging in by phone at Drive. Don't know if it "works" but at least Drive connects when I turn on the XT.

Interesting. Been using my Galaxy S20 & XT for several years, but not since last fall.

Tried messing with every connection permission on phone I could find without success.

Broke out an android tablet, loaded Garmin Drive app (same version) and Shazam it worked! Connected to Garmin account and XT and synced.

The phone will find the XT but not login to Garmin account. Dang this is frustrating!
[Edit to add] I am able to login to Garmin account online with email & password from a laptop.

Fixed! (I think).

Bottom line, my Android phone has default browser as Duck-Duck-Go (DDG). Eventually I disabled all privacy setting within DDG and re-established all connections.

Turne DDG privacy settings back on and still works!

Generally my Drive does not need to re login to Garmin account every time I use the XT so this was unusual situation.
