Adjusting the autozoom

Post by Sleuth »

A (very) long time ago on a different forum, there was a method of manually tweaking the autozoom on the GPS.

However, the forum stopped (and this one was created) and so the knowledge has been lost.

I am attempting to adjust the autozoom levels for a motorway from 800m to 1.2km.

Can anyone remind me how to successfully make the new zoom level the default?

Thanks very much and best regards

I believe you simply let it autozoom to the current level then adjust it ... next time it should remember.

Hi Sussamb & Stu,

Thanks for the answers.

That is what I thought, but unfortunately, it appears you need to do it at the right time, or in combination with something else.

The 595 seems to be rather picky, it usually accepts the change when I am not intending it to change. I have no idea why or when.

Stu,

Thanks for that, it does indeed go to a developers page, and eventually, I found it. Developers Tests and Tools > Map Drawing > Auto Zoom
However, the options are less than clear:
Driving local: 500 minor unit zoom = 120m
Driving Highway: 0.5 unit zoom = 800m
Driving Ramp: 0.3 unit zoom = 500m

Does anyone have a reference table to link the units to feet/meters?

Thanks again.

Best regards

Thanks for the website, but I was more interested in the conversion of units or minor units to Metres (or feet).

I think what you are seeing is both imperial and metric zoom levels.

On local roads 500ft or 120 meters
Highway .5 mile or 800 meters
Ramp .3 mile or 500 meters

Dependent on which unit of measurement is selected on the device.

Ok thanks for this, it certainly makes sense. Sorry for not thinking it through!

I currently have it listed in metric, but the developers page is therefore in Imperial.
