Hi, I've searched but couldn't find an answer to my issue. I'm sure it will be an easy fix, but I've not managed yet!
I have all my MP3 files loaded into folders on the SD card. I had the same for my 595. With the 595 I could list "songs" , play the first song and the unit would work it's way through the entire list. After switching off and then back on, it would resume where it had left off. I'm trying to do exactly the same with the XT2. When I power on the XT2, after a minute or so, it says "no songs found" but, it flashes up a thumbnail of the last track it was playing. I have to start the music player again, it finds the songs ok, but I have to start at the first song again, rather than the XT2 remembering where it was previously. I have 6000+ tracks in 500+ folders but the music player says track 1 of 5000. My preference is to play through the tracks alphabetically rather than use the "random " button. I just want the unit to remember where it was in the list when it powers down. Am I confusing the unit by having more than 5000 tracks on the SD card? I did try to build a play list on the unit including "All songs" but that just makes the unit restart every time. TIA.

@oldwobbler you can put all your songs into one folder on the SD card that you have called MP3. That's what I have done and it's many LPs and songs. Each time I start it, it's from where I left off so try that if you haven't already. Edit: I do play all my songs randomly but it always starts off playing the last song I was listening to on MP3.

Although irritatingly, when I start my Bluetooth phone music, I have to listen to the same first song in my playlist for a few notes before clicking the random button which does not seem to stay on between power offs. It's The Fly by U2 in case you were wondering - I might try listening all the way through next time!

I have 4000+ songs on my SD card in an mp3 folder. I usually at random and when I do, it always starts with the same song- Day Job by The Gin Blossoms. After that it's random.

I’ve just double-checked with Zumo in hand. With both a standby and a full shut down, my MP3 music starts from the beginning of the last played song. And that’s with random on or off too. I’ve done nothing special other than build a unique MP3 folder on my SD card and put all my music in there. It is actually all LPs if that makes any difference.

I've noticed the unit works fine when I let it power down with the loss of external power. It remembers the last song then. I might just have to work around this.

Have you tried pausing the music player before turning off the power ? Just a thought.

I’m sure mine picks up from where I left off, but if I select Random, the first song is always the same. Perhaps someone forgot that computers start counting from 0, not 1.

Incidentally, the XT2 will find mp3 files wherever you place them. Also, all the Zumos that I have owned will scan folders and subfolders - so you can save your songs by artist/album/track if you wish.

My unit is still not remembering where it left off or which song it was last playing. I've gone through all my tracks and removed some so there are now only 4120 songs. On initial boot up it still says "no songs found" and then proceeds to show song 1 of 4120! It does not matter if the unit is powered off completely or just screen off or if I pause the song first. All songs are on the SD card in a folder named "MP3". The SD card is a 476G card, is the size important?

Max 256GB SD card I believe so that may be your problem.

Thanks, I'll try a smaller card. Also in properties for the SD card the format is generic hierarchical. Does it still need to be FAT32?

Yes, but only if the SD card is larger than 32GB capacity.
