I have a Garmin Zumo 340 LM. I have used it for years all over the UK and Europe with very few issues
A few days ago I up dated it to the latest maps

Big mistake ... it is now useless
At this point I must admit to being a tecno luddite.
If I now try to enter a destination a few miles away I get the message ..[cannot find results for....[/i]
I get a similar message if I put in a European destination.
From what I have read I think I should have put in a new bigger SIM 32GB ?
I have found a company called ... satnavishop.co.uk... They advertise a Garmin micro SD card UK/EU ...but they don't have a phone number

and
don't seem to answer E mails.
When I plug it into my lap top it shows that only a very small potion of Northern France.
Any advice would be gratefully received

Express should have warned you it was installing a smaller region. Your best bet would be to run Express again and get it to reinstall the map, that may resolve it or you may be told to either install a memory card or accept a smaller region.
I am though surprised only a small portion of France has been installed, never heard of that before.
You certainly though shouldn't have to buy a map on a sd card from anyone!

I have now packed it up and posted it to an expert
Like you he is fairly certain it needs a bigger SD card .
He will put one in and do the necessary

I will let you know how it works out

Can he use MapInstall? Mapinstall takes selected maps from the computer and copies them to a Zumo unit, but he will need that unit connected to the computer so MapInstall can read the map license file on the Zumo, I think, I love to guess things

I have a Zumo 340lm and 390lm. Both have only 7.13Gb of internal memory. The latest European mapset is 7.69 Gb so a memory card is required. I have a 16Gb card in the 340LM and a 32Gb in the 390LM. Garmin express splits the mapping between the unit and the card to allow the complete map set to be retained on the device. They are great little devices and are better at actually navigating GPX files with more sensible routing algorithms than any of Garmin's current offerings.

Yes, you can if the map is installed to your computer by Express but that only installs just the map. The Express 'map' update installs other files as well so always best to use Express to update your device if possible.

my memory is crap lately, sorry, but you're correct, I did use Express to download new maps to my PC Windows 11 computer, then ( I think ) to use MapInstall, I had to find the Garmin map License file, forget now where it was either on my PC or on the 396, but I copy/pasted that .unl file into the garmin folder on the sd card that was on the 396, oh wait, i removed the card out of the 396 first, and then when i ran MapInstall, oh wait, i remember now, I took that SD card out of my 396 and put the card in a usb card reader, so when using MapInstall i selected that SD card that was in the card reader, and had copy/pasted that garmin .unl map license file onto the card, so MapInstall was being tricked here, because to MapInstall upon recognizing that .unl license file on the card, thought it was the actual 396 unit, (computer programs are dumb lol) so then when I was done installing maps onto that sd card, i removed the card and installed it into the 396, I dunno what else I did, my memory is getting worse as I age, life is good lol
