Well, a welcome surprise.

My normal devices are iPhone with Tread & MRA - XT2. I also have an Android tablet and have previously downloaded Tread onto it only to find I could not use it as a planner due to it not being connected to the XT2. Only one device at a time can be connected.

With all the recent updates and the new XT3, I thought I’d try again. I obviously logged in with my existing details and it now lets me plan on the tablet even though it’s not connected to the XT2. And yes, the routes sync to Explore and Tread on my phone. When I delete the route on the tablet, it also deletes from elsewhere.

Not perfect as the preferred way would be a PC version. I’ve tried to download on my Chromebook and PC laptop but no joy there.

Anyhow, it would be interesting to see if anyone else has joy with this and if it’s useful to you. If it’s something you already knew, ignore me.

One thing to note; I also have the Explore app on my phone and before it all worked, I forced a sync from it. I’m not sure if that’s necessary though.

Have an Android phone and tablet, both Samsung and have the Tread on both, with no problems. Apart from sometimes routes / waypoints seem to be "sticky" in the XT2, but nowhere else, and the data only came from a gpx file that was imported into Tread first.

@Oop North John maybe I’m behind the curve on this one or it might have previously being due to my iOS/Android (Samsung tablet) crossover. It is different app versions on both so they might also be catching up with each other. Whatever, it seems to work now so another planning option.

I’ll probably stick to MRA-Tread-XT2 if I need to do any ‘on the road’ planning as that way you get a track and route with no extra effort. Tread is a very quick way of doing it though.

OK, here's how it works: you have to pair the Tread app with your account once.

A Tread app device (Smartphone / Tablet) can be connected to multiple zumos at the same time, at least in theory. I myself had some problems with Simultaneous multiple use, in that synchronization only worked with one of the zumos fine, but I think that's a different problem.

Correct, then a zumo can only be connected to one Tread app smartphone/tablet via bluetooth at a time.

In my experience, this is how it should always have been. As long as the Tread app is online. I suspect you had different requirements if this was not the case for you.

One more note:
The Tread 2 can also synchronize via Wi-Fi without a Bluetooth Tread app connection.
All you need is for the Tread app device and Tread 2 to be connected to Wi-Fi.
I wouldn't be surprised if the XT3 can now do this too.

I don't want to rule out the possibility that the Treed app might want to reconnect to the zumo from time to time, just to know that it's still there, even though I can't imagine that happening.
Then all my observations are with Androids; I don't know how Apples behave, but I don't believe there are any significant differences in how they work.

Please note:
If you are already experiencing synchronization problems,
adding multiple Tread app devices and/or zumo XT2/3 navigation devices will certainly not improve the situation—quite the contrary. It's also fair to say that “less is often more.”
Then you have to pair the Tread app with your zumu XT 2 / 3 once.
But both pairings only need to be done once Initially.
From then on, you can use the Tread app regardless of whether a device is connected at the time or not.
That's what I've observed with Android.
Perhaps you encountered other obstacles.

@proofresistant i do think you have misunderstood my post and even if you thought what I posted is normal, I invited anyone to ignore me.

What I was trying to say is that I have one XT2 but that I can now install Tread on both my iPhone and my Samsung tablet and that I am able to plan a route on both of them where before, I could not plan on both. The routes will sync across to each other and then from my phone (which is paired with my XT2) will sync the route to the XT2.

Does that make more sense?

The behavior described is and was not normal, at least as far as I know.

It should most likely have always worked as you are now final observing.

It would be interesting to know what exactly was different before your success?
What is the key conclusion?
Does it really have anything to do with the Apple variant, even though I don't think so?

That's why I tried not to ignore your experiences and to describe a few background details from my point of view.

But you're right, if you had just wanted to describe you observed, that something works sometimes and sometimes doesn't, then I could have ignored it

What did not work before is that I could not plan a route on my tablet. It would not give me the option to as it is not paired with the XT2. I could only plan a route on my phone which is paired with the XT2. I now can.

This is observed behaviour from the past and has been mentioned in posts on this forum before.

I think that probably explains as much as I possibly can. It didn’t work for me, now it does.

Ok, maybe I should have researched a little more or asked the question. It seems like you could always do what I have described and I was wrong. If I could delete this post I would.

Or maybe it has let someone know that they can do this and they don’t have to be confined to planning a Tread route on their small phone screen.

not all questions are always useful and often the answers are not useful either.

But overall, we share experiences here and expand our knowledge.
That is a huge benefit, as it helps our community grow, at least in my opinion .

I, for one, am thankful for every question and every answer even if I don't enjoy reading everything.
