Newbie and Custom Maps

Hi new to using the Zumo XT, but not new to mapping and stuffing around that way.
Have been able to create a limited number of raster Custom maps for the Aussie continent, but run into a brick wall with this Zumo XT 400 map tile limit per device. Online sources and Google AI reckon there's no such thing...but it is there. Have reduced resolution and tile limited to 100 per map to alteast get 4 good size maps but its very restrictive. Have trialled a work around creating maps as JNX birdseye format and they do show well, but cannot selectively turn individual maps on or off...seems with birdseye its all or nothing.
Has anyone been able to see how to increase this custom map limit. It seems ridiculous they have set it.
