XT Took A Dump (shut down mid-ride)

I was leading a group ride yesterday and my Zumo XT shut down. Lost all my tracks, maintenance records and low fuel settings. Also went back to the default settings.

I was able to use the unit by selecting a point on the map and telling it to go there. But that's all it could do.

I have been able to install tracks from my laptop with the USB cable, and they appear on the map.

Now it won't connect with my phone. I uninstalled Garmin Drive from the phone, and did a software and maps update through Wi-Fi at home, and retried. NG

Any help appreciated, what's the warranty like for stuff like this? TIA

XT warranty is 2 years.

Contact Garmin, tell them the problem. See what they suggest. Sometimes if they know of a fault with certain hardware, they may replace it anyway. Especially since the XT1 came out about the time Covid struck. I guess most XT1's didn't get much use during their guarantee period.

Explain that it is the first long ride you have been able to use it on, and it has let you down. (if that is what it is).

Someone on a motorcycle site said something about a "hard reset" is this something that might help? How is it done?

well, it was like root canal surgery, but I finally got it to pair with my phone again. Seems to work as it should, but I am going to bring my old GPSMAP 64s along for a while.
I have no idea what was causing this problem. I installed/uninstalled DRIVE, 3 times and went deeper into my phone than I ever did. fingers crossed, Thanks for the help
