Will BC export to BC import produce same route?

I am curious if anyone knows whether my Basecamp exported routes sent to my riding buddy are exactly the same when he loads them into his BC whether his are the same for me. IOW, does Basecamp calculate the import, or, are the ghost points maintained resulting in the route being identical? Our maps are the same.

Assuming you have the same BaseCamp version it will, I regularly send routes between 2 laptops without issue. It may even work if BaseCamp versions aren't the same but I've never tried that.

Create a track from the route, include it with the route in the exported gpx. Your riding buddy can import and display both. If they diverge at any point, follow the track. The route can change if it is recalculated, but a track will always be the same.

Basecamp does not recalculate on import. It draws the imported route using the imported ghost points, however, if the route is later recalculated for any reason, the ghost points are discarded. Any route recalculation will be based on the via and shaping points only.
If using the same map, and the same vehicle profile, routing preferences and avoidances, then the calculation result should be identical.
As lkraus said, a track will never change.

This is what I was curious about. Thanks for the reassurance that what I see following import represents the route that was sent.
