Today I did the same as I have uploading to Tread then syncing with the XT2. The XT2 just kept syncing and would not update. I have samsung S24 connected.
I reset all the settings but it still just stayed syncing.
Any ideas?

Check that the temperature is displayed on the main screen, or that when you play something on your mobile (Spotify for example) the notifications are displayed on the XT2.

Sometimes the phone connects to the XT2 but the Tread App is not "fully connected", in the Explore menu it says "syncing", but it really isn't. What I was telling you is a simple way to know that the Tread App is fully connected.

If you don't see the ambient temperature next to the Tread symbol on the XT2 (main screen), you can turn off Bluetooth on your phone and reconnect it. This usually helps. However, you can try granting full permissions to the Tread app on Android/iOS to improve performance (location, contacts, notifications, etc.).

I hope it works for you. ;)

No none of that worked. Says everything is connected.
Heres what ChatGPT found...it worked.

Hi @Trilergy ,

before we get started with the discussion here, it's more stable if you work without the Tread app (or the Explore connection) and transfer the routes from your PC to the XT2 via SD card or USB and import them there.

Synchronization can cause a lot of problems.
  • It may be as you describe
  • it may be that the XT2 becomes very slow to operate
  • it may be that the XT2 crashes randomly
  • it may create invisible duplicates of the routes
  • . . .
If your works now, that's great!
If you've managed to solve the synchronization issues by pairing again, that's also great.

Otherwise, keep in mind that there may be problems with synchronization.
When and how this happens is not yet entirely clear, or rather, completely unclear.
There have already been a few updates, but problems may still occur.
There are already several discussions on this topic here in the forum.

I would like to see data transfer via the Tread app, just like you do with OneDrive—that's a would be great solution!!!

But I've completely uninstalled the Tread app due to synchronization issues :-(
Routes with shaping points can also be heavily manipulated through collaboration with the Tread app, which was another reason for uninstalling it.

My thing is the unit is added to a R1250rt above the TFT. Its a custom designed mount and fitting and I have a lock on the mount.

So removing it is a bit of a pain. I did it this way when I got the XT because of the cloud syncing opportunity.

Been doing it this way with no issues for the XT using Drive app. Challenge became the routing was atrocious and a cause of much frustration.

So I upgraded to the XT2 and the only option I could find was the Tread sync.

Im reworking all my maps as now I know the XT2 routing does what every other Garmin device did before the XT. I ended up adding waypoints galore to ensure it went where I wanted rather than where it decided and wouldnt change until 500 meters from the next stop..sometimes more than 15kms out of the way!!.

Anyway for now I've removed all the old routes, recalibrated them in Basecamp with minimal waypoints and redownloaded. So far after the reset its working as it should. Lets see how we go.

There are many reasons not to want to deal without wireless transmission, and your setup is one of the good ones!

Unfortunately, the Tread app is probably the only known solution for getting data onto the XT2 wirelessly.

So stay strong, and at least now you know that there may be problems with synchronization.

If nothing works while you're on the road, hopefully you'll also have the track available. (Displaying the track in the background is a great feature anyway, but I assume you already know that.)
And then if necessary, once you have the track, may delete everything from the XT2 and also in the Tread app, except for the tracks. (You may have to do this several times if deleted routes keep reappearing, but that's another issue.)
Then, to be on the safe side, create a route from the track on the XT2 or, for the fastest option, create a route from the track in the Tread app.
Finally, you may need to disable Bluetooth before or after sychronisation the route conversion (or only during routing).
Keep in mind that this is only one possible solution, as it has not yet been determined when or what exactly has negative effects.

Keep us updated and share your experiences.
