I've used Garmin Zumo, BMW Navigator etc for many years with no issues. 4 years ago I "upgraded" to the XT because the TFT screen setup on my BMW R1250Rt was to say the least crap!
Sadly though I began a journey of unfamiliarity with the XT. While it looked the same the mapping algorithms were atrocious!
I tried everything I could think of but it just wouldnt do what I was used to.
In frustration I upgraded to the XT2 a few ago.
Using the same maps (from basecamp) I worked out the Tread app linkage and sent my maps to the XT2. After a few tweaks I had to work out I think I got it sorted.
Today I went on my first real test. I removed some of my waypoints from a map I had. (They were previously required to tell the XT exactly where to go.)
I was amazed that the XT2 did exactly what every other Garmin I have had did previously. AMAZING!!
I'm so delighted that it works. The XT was a source of many hours of frustration.
My setup is Basecamp for my maps. I export it to a map directory on my onedrive. On my phone I click on that and use Tread to open the file. Once in Tread it syncs with the XT2 on my bike.
I have another question but I'll raise it on another post.
