zumo XT2 vs Tread 2

Hello everyone,

I noticed the new Tread 2 on the web.

Unfortunately, as is typical with Garmin, there is little information available only.

I am interested in:
  • What can't the Tread 2 do when compared to the zumo XT2?
  • What can the Tread 2 do better when compared to the zumo XT2?
  • How does it compare in terms of performance?
Has it become noticeably faster when importing, selecting, and/or (re-)calculating routes and or zooming Map?
  • Can the “North UP” / “Track Up” / “3D” view be changed with the handlebar controller on the Tread 2 and is such a configuration available in the menu?
  • Can the Tread 2 at least do “normal” road navigation?
Normal navigation means routes with shaping and via points based on the included City Navigator maps.
(I can manage fine without traffic information, radar detectors, beautiful motorcycle routes, etc.)
  • Does the Tread 2 finally support 5GHz Wi-Fi?
  • Is the Tread 2 display at least as bright as the zumo XT 2?
What definitely caught my eye in a positive way is that it has different vehicle profiles and that Tread is suitable for off-road and maybe even bike tours.

I can live without the collections as long as I can get the routes 1:1 onto the device, preferably wirelessly.

Then the Tread 2 mount should also be compatible with the zumo XT2.
(Please do not discuss the old zumo XT (1) mount here.)

I also noticed that the Y cable for connecting the handlebar controller is included.

Edit
And you can probably also preselect other route preferences defaults in Tread 2
Direct, ShorterDistance, FasterTime and Adventurous (n) also

Who knows more about the Tread 2 or who has already had experience with it?

My quick take as this is relatively new product is that this is more for trail riding (ATVs, Snowmobiles, hunting, off road) than for motorcyclists. At least as I read the specs and they offerings from gpscity.ca or Amazon.

After 5 years of the XT2 it could be the next in line too. Maybe they are promoting it to a broader audience than motoryclists. As for performance and the like, I'm not ready to drop another $1000 to find out. I finally understand my XT2 in a way that it works for me as well as it does. Not likely to update until the performance degrades from its current abilities. My two cents, may not be yours...

instead trails for offroad or also? That is one of the main questions, what is missing for motorcyclists ;-)

5 years, I have serious doubts with 5 years ;-)

That's perfectly clear, congratulations to anyone who spends not just any sent for a Zumo.
But whether it's worth it or not is something everyone has to decide for themselves.
In my opinion, most Zumo users probably invest too much money and, above all, too much time and pain compared to the benefits.

But by the way, I was more interested in facts, because that's exactly what I haven't found much of so far, as I wrote at the beginning ;-)
