Hi from Melbourne

Post by iansray »

Just upgraded from a 396 yesterday, and unfortunately am heading away for the weekend in the car. So the first trip on the XT2 will be a long boring drag down the highway.
It will be mounted to my Ninja 1000sx, and mainly used for Sunday rides with the local Ulysses branch. So far, very happy with easy setup, the screen is so much easier to read in daylight, and the touchscreen is much better than the 396.

Welcome to the forums @iansray

Lots of useful help and support on these pages. The XT2 will be a steep learning curve - but well worth the effort.

How do you normally create your routes ?
Have owned Zumo 550, 660 == Now have Zumo XT2, XT, 595, 590, Headache
Use Basecamp (mainly), MyRouteApp (sometimes), Competent with Tread for XT2, Can use Explore for XT - but it offers nothing that I want !

So far I have been using Basecamp, I'm not sure if I will continue to do so, but they seem to talk to each other, so I'll probably stick with it. All my existing routes are stored there.

Basecamp works perfectly well with the XT2. Ignore the BC error message.

A couple of quick tips.

If you install Tread on your phone, do not let it synch with the XT2 or 'Save data'. It alters your routes.

When you load a route from a GPX file, before you select Go!, tap the Spanner / wrench top left corner. Select 'Copy'. Save it with a slightly different name. Use the copy, not the original.

Really.
