Bluetooth speakers/ear buds

Post by gwilki »

I have the XT2 talking to a Cardo Spirit mounted on a full coverage helmet right now. It works most of the time, but lately one of the speakers is intermittent.

I would like to ditch the Cardo and have the XT2 talk directly to blue tooth speakers or ear buds. I wear a full coverage helmet, so speakers may be more convenient. I only need the speakers for turn by turn directions from the XT2.

My search here did not produce any discussions from anyone using such a set up. Is anyone doing this, and if so, can you tell me what speakers or ear buds you are using?

thank you

I use wired earbuds with a bluetooth adapter in my pocket. My TaoTronics TT-BR06 receiver I got a few yrs ago works great but is now obsolete. The UGREEN CM596 5.3 bluetooth receiver I got from another member here also works wonderfully with my XT. Both of these last at least 10 hrs of riding time plus stop time. I rarely turn them off at stops, I just stop my music. I copied tons of mp3's onto an SD card so my XT plays music, stops music to give turn instructions, then goes back to playing music.

I prefer wired as the replaceable tips I use are fabulous! They're squishy foam like earplugs. https://etymotic.com/product/er38-14fb/. The wired earbuds I use are Etymotic, I forget the model. A little pricey but they last forever.

Pretty good thread on adapters here --> viewtopic.php?t=2623&hilit=bluetooth and beginner's info starting at the bottom of page 2 of this thread --> viewtopic.php?t=1660&hilit=bluetooth&start=10. Adapters can be found pretty cheap on ebay.

thanks much. I guess my search criteria were bad. I now have some ideas to follow up on.

I did try a buddy's blue tooth ear buds. The XT2 paired with them right away. There was no bluetooth receiver in the loop. The negative is that they are much too big to use under my helmet.

The search continues. Thanks again.
