Re: Handlebar Controller for XT2
Thanks for posting those @turbo19 .
Please excuse me (ab)using my moderator privileges and copying the images to twist them through 90 deg).
It looks like a really good fit on your bars.
Mine will be here next week - but Its a surprise. It'll be an even bigger one when the cables come 5 weeks later. I'm not in a rush though. The entire fairing will have to come off to replace the wiring harness.

Have owned Zumo 550, 660 == Now have Zumo XT2, XT, 595, 590, Headache
Use Basecamp (mainly), MyRouteApp (sometimes), Competent with Tread for XT2, Can use Explore for XT - but it offers nothing that I want !

For restrict voltage for remote controller, may be enough simple circuit with Zener diode?marcparnes wrote: ↑18 Nov 2024 16:25Excellent point. Mine comes today and I'm going to use it.

Re: Handlebar Controller for XT2
It occurred to me ... can somebody to measure the voltage in Y-cable in micro-USB connector for the Remote control? Maybe there is only 5V in the cable from XT2 to remote controller, then the new power cable would be unnecessary.
Re: Handlebar Controller for XT2
The problem I had was with the plug. I couldn't find a similar one. I didn't dare cut the Y cable (to put in another plug).
I have several electronic friends, and they have sent me plugs that are similar but never the same. Maybe some manufacturer makes them exclusively for Garmin.
If you find the male plug needed to feed the Y cable, please tell us what model and reference it is

Re: Handlebar Controller for XT2
Just answering a question on FB page. Someone had ordered a cable that I didn't recognise.
Santa brought me my handlebar controller and high current cable and the necessary Y adapter. Clever of him to work out what was required.
But looking back at the Garmin page to see which cable this chap had bought - and a new one is now listed on the Garmin site.
This cable was not there when I ordered my setup at the end of November. There is no price showing at present and it is says that it will be available in 4-7 days. (Current date 28 Dec 24).
And it is shown as being compatible with the Handlebar Controller, with the Tread GPS and the XT2 GPS.
And it matches the diagram in the instruction manual. And it has a new mount for the XT2.
That is really irritating. I've modified my post of 9 November to alert anyone else that it is not necessary to buy two expensive cables when one expensive cable is all that is needed. I've included the same image in that post as well.
Just thought that I'd check the tiny screws that hold the connector in place. They need a very tiny precision star head screwdriver. Fortunately I have one. It's a Torx T5 head that fits.

Re: Handlebar Controller for XT2
I have the same problem. I have ordered the return of the other 2 cables (accepted by Garmin), and I am waiting for the price of this new reference. Disastrous marketing.

Cheaper than the other 2 cables, and with the new support included. This now makes more sense.
Re: Handlebar Controller for XT2
late to this discussion but when you order the package from Garmin in the Netherlands, both the cables are included:
So it appears that both are needed???
