Hi guys. Just popped in here.
I'm from Perth, Scotland

I have a Garmin zumo 660.
I've had this for since 2014. Hardly been used.
I bought a new battery the other day.
I fitted it into the sat nav and a message came up on the screen and it won't go on charge

Insert battery.....

Can anyone please tell me what the problem is.
Thanks
Robert

Welcome to the forum Robert from a fellow 660 user.
I guess you've cleaned the battery and unit contacts.
Did the unit start at all with the old battery installed?
Have you tried mounting the unit in the bike cradle?

Welcome @Robert the Scot

What does the massage say exactly ?

How are you charging it. Some USB cables are single function - charge or synchronise. You may need a different cable.
Your new battery may be completely flat. I would put it in the powered cradle and take it for a long ride.
Your new battery may be duff. Contact the supplier.

I put it into the sat nav, the message just said

Insert battery.

The old battery works perfectly.

The old battery works perfectly.
Which begs the question why do you need a new battery?

Mine's over 10 years old and doesn't reach full charge. Not a problem really as I only use it in the car or bike cradles. Sounds like you've got a duff new battery!

Welcome to the forum, Robert.

No 660 experience, I have a 590 (along with a Drive 60, Montana 610, and a inReach Mini), but it sounds like what others have said, a bad new battery.
